Here’s where the Los Angeles fires are burning now and the efforts to curb them.
Los Angeles continued to be held hostage by a ring of fires on Saturday as blazes burned largely unrestrained across the region, turning parts of Southern California’s best-known neighborhoods to ashes and charred remains.
Eleven people have been killed in the series of fires that began on Tuesday amid hurricane-level winds, with more than a dozen declared missing. At least 12,000 structures have been destroyed.
Although a break in the fire-fueling winds bolstered firefighting efforts on Friday and Saturday morning, officials warned that it would most likely be temporary. Dry and windy conditions are forecast to return over the weekend.
More than 150,000 people were under mandatory evacuation orders as of Saturday morning.
